New Classes for 2012

INTRODUCTION TO 5D SUITE

If you have recently purchased 5D Suite or feel like you need a refresher course in the basics of this incredible software package, you will want to attend this class. This is hands-on so you will actually use the software as you learn the basics. Printed hand-outs of everything we cover in class will be available for you to take home at no charge so you will be able to refresh your memory as you use the software at home.

BINDING YOUR QUILT

Well done binding can make the difference between a mediocre looking result and an award-winning look in your quilt. If you have ever had corners that looked dog-eared, curled, rounded or generally look wrong, then this class is a must. This easy method is tried and true and guaranteed to give perfect results. We will also discover how to join the ends of the binding so that no one can tell where the binding begins or ends. Your kit will include all the fabric, batting and binding fabric needed to practice your new-found skills.

Easy Home Decor Part 1

First in a new series of easy Home Dec projects.

Do you want to re-decorate your home for the New Year? Join us for this fun class. In this class we will make an easy window treatment. You will learn how to work with “drapery” type fabric, learn how to lay-out and cut drapery fabric, and add piping and embellishments to your project.

Know Your Machine Part I

(All Models)

The basics of using your machine will be covered along with proper needle and thread use, maintenance, tension adjustments and buttonholes.  You will need to bring your machine to class.  All machines included in this class. (FREE for one year to Sun Sew Vac purchasers) See calendar for schedule.

Know Your Machine Part II

(All Models)

Learn more about what your machine can do.  Included are sequencing, tapering, memory and much more.  Bring your machine to class.

Know Your Machine Part III

(All Models)This is the class you've anticipated.  Learn just what your embroidery machine can do.  You'll practice the proper hooping, design placement and stabilization of your embroidery designs.  Plus, you will learn what all those buttons actually do.  Bring your machine and embroidery unit to class. (FREE for one year to Sun Sew Vac purchasers) See calendar for schedule.

Serger Basics

(All Models)Learn the proper threading, rolled hem, tension adjustments, differential feed, and maintenance for your serger. You will need to bring your machine to class.(FREE for one year to Sun Sew Vacpurchasers) See calendar for schedule.

5-Thread Serger and Cover Stitch

(All Models)Threading, needle placement and tension adjustments will be the main focus of this class.Discover what else these magnificent sergers will do.  You will need to bring your machine to class.  Prerequisite: Serger Basics.

Private Lessons

Private lessons are available for any and all of your sewing needs.

  • If you need one-on-one help with a computerized machine, embroidery machine or the computer software for your embroidery machine, we can help you with that for $75/hour.
  • If you need help with any other sewing machine or sewing skills, we offer lessons for $50/hour. Private sewing lessons for garment construction, home dec., etc is $50/hour.

Clubs

All Clubs are $25 per session or you may purchase a Club Card (6 sessions) for $95 to use toward any club we offer.

Pfaff Embroidery Club

Join us on the 3rd Saturday of the EVEN months and discover some very creative ways to use your embroidery machine. Placement, lettering and applique are just a few of the topics to be covered. Open to all embroidery machine owners! 10am-1pm

Serger Club

Sergers aren't just for overcasting seams! We will explore many creative uses for this wonderful sewing tool. Each session will cover a new technique, a novel use for an old technique or a creative project. Join us on the 2nd Saturday in the months of April, June & October.

2pm-5pm

Creative 5-D Software

Learn just what you and your Creative 5-D software can create! We will use all the modules in the 5-D Suite to create, edit and modify not only designs but graphics.

2nd Saturday odd months (Jan, Mar, May, July, Sept, Nov) 2pm-5pm
